Context

The Problem

The  decline in bee population  represents a threat to the nature's ecological balance. Despite the seriousness of this situation, there is a  lack of awareness among younger generations  about the causes, consequences, and necessary actions to protect and advocate for the bees.

The Solution

The development of an  educational app for children  that aims to inspire change through an engaging learning experience.  Structured as a game , the kid explores the BeeBoo world to learn about the bees' lives and conservation. In the end, a fun quiz awaits, where they can put their knowledge to the test.

Strategy

Target Audience

The primary audience is the planet's future: kids. We believe that  educating children about critical issues like this is crucial . With their remarkable capacity to absorb information and their innate curiosity, we hypothesize that children would grasp the message effectively and be inspired to take action toward positive change.

By empowering kids with knowledge and fostering a deep understanding of critical environmental issues, we have the goal of  cultivating a generation of environmentally conscious citizens  who will play a pivotal role in protecting the health of our planet for generations to come.

Structure

Focusing on implementing a  horizontal gamified format , the structure follows a linear flow aiming to enhance storytelling about bees.  Kids can freely explore  the section in whatever order and whenever direction they want.

App structure showing the app's flow. With the homepage as an entry point, they can scroll horizontally to the Welcome, Learn, Activities, Quiz and Team acreen. In each one of these screens, there are interactive cards they can click on.

Kids need to explore the space and find the information they need by clicking on the  interactive cards

A long horizontal simple back and white scenario showing the BeeBoo world displaying each one of the screens (Homepage, Welcome, Learn, Activities, Quiz and Team) .

Once they click on the cards,  BeeBoo, the mascot, appears and speaks to them about that topic.  Here, they are free to interact with the content to get more information about each topic presented.

A simple vocabulary and fractionated information will help them to hold their curiosity to keep exploring by moving back and forth using the arrows. Also, they can close the pop-up to quickly go back to the main scenario.

BeeBoo, the Mascot

BeeBoo was created to guide kids and act as a supporter of their learning experience,  helping kids develop empathy toward bees  to better understand the seriousness of the situation.

The mascot has emotions and expresses them depending on the situation that's happening, ranging from happiness, surprise, sadness and anger.

Environment

The playful world where BeeBoo lives is  colourful and full of surprises . Kids get to explore and interact with the visual elements to deep dive into the bees' universe.

Final Product

The final design offers a world to be explored by kids, where  BeeBoo guides them through their learning experience  by offering fun quizzes and relevant information on the topic.
